The difficulties and challenges of child protection in schools in Hungary from the perspective of an NGO

For the past 5 years the Hintalovon Child Rights Foundation has had a program for developing Child Safeguarding Policies, the NEMECSEK Program. Initially, they worked together with different schools to make the school as safe as possible for children. However, the current educational situation in Hungary makes it much more difficult for schools to deal with the safeguarding of children, while they deal with it every day, just in a less organised and preventive approach. What would real prevention in schools mean? What are schools doing today to prevent and deal with different situations of bullying and abuse? What are the biggest challenges that schools face today in protecting children? Who are the main prevention actors within the school other than teachers, what are their capacities and why is this task incredibly difficult today? This presentation will address and shed more light on these questions.
