Child safeguarding in education and childcare

Global online summit · 14 – 16 November 2023

Every child deserves a safe learning environment, free from abuse, exploitation and neglect.

However, an estimated 246 million children around the world have been subjected to sexual, physical and emotional violence in school. This can result in lifelong impacts on children’s education, health and wellbeing and increase the risk of intergenerational poverty. Girls and children in marginalised groups are often the worst affected.

Join educators, childcare practitioners, policy makers, and researchers as we share expertise, best practices, and resources to safeguard children in schools and childcare facilities worldwide.
Let's bridge the gaps in child safeguarding measures and create a brighter future for every child.

Together, we can make a difference.

All schools and childcare facilities are responsible for safeguarding children, but too many have gaps in their child safeguarding measures that put them at risk of violence and abuse, both in person and online. In some contexts, the problem is exacerbated by weak or non-existent national legislation and policy on child safeguarding in schools and childcare settings.

This summit has convened educators, childcare and child safeguarding practitioners, policy makers and researchers to share expertise, experience, best practices, resources, challenges, and success stories on safeguarding children in schools and childcare facilities across the world.
